In today's society, every student must graduate from high school and be prepared to go on to 4 year colleges, technology schools, and the workforce. Jobs for the future require 21st century skills, extensive knowledge of core content, and critical thinking skills that all students must obtain by taking challenging courses. I'm confident that the district curriculum and highly qualified staff will help prepare our students for the future.
You have my commitment to work with our faculty, staff, students, and parents to continue to make incremental progress. The Talawanda Community strives daily to address the needs of every one of our students. Through initiative such as our Student Assistance Program (SAP), District Wellness Program, School Climate Program (PRIDE), High Schools That Work initiatives, Title I, English Language Learners, and our Freshman Academy, we will continue to help students gain the skills and access the support they need to achieve personal success.
The Talawanda Leadership Team is dedicated and focused on finding ways to engage the community. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated as we continue to modernize our facilities in order to provide the best learning environment possible. The new High School is scheduled to be completed by the winter semester. Students will move into the new building in January 2012. Everyone is looking forward to having the newest High School in Butler County!
A quarterly update will be published in order to provide you with the latest district updates. I encourage you to get involved in your public schools and work with us to achieve “Excellence with Distinction!”
I’m looking forward to an exceptional school year. If you have any questions or you would like to get involved in any of the district's initiatives, please contact Kelly Spivey at the Talawanda Board of Education.
