There are lots of great technologies out there, here are some of my favorites that may help you in your classroom.
Jing is a free software download for Mac or PC that allows you to capture video & images from your computer screen. This is commonly known as ‘screencasting’ and is useful for creating computer tutorials. Jing has everything you need to capture the video, record narration and post your video on the web for all to see! See it in action with our Lab Scheduling Tutorials.

Lynda.com is the only site that I’m going mention that cost $. It’s not much, but the information is INVALUABLE. Ever want to learn a new program or skill - or fill in gaps of something you already know? Lynda.com houses thousands of short educational video’s for almost anything you can imagine! Photoshop, Web Design, Video & Audio Production, Coding of any kind, Animation and more. Its 25$ a month for access to their entire library - and their video’s are classy. Adobe & Apple use them for their official tutorials.

Delicious.com is a simple idea. It allows you to bookmark websites and access them from any computer at any time. The benefit of this over our own ‘mobile user’ setup is that you can share your bookmarks with anyone! Perfect for your department to house and share tried and true websites.

This is a site that scours the Library of Congress Image Archives. Put in a search term, and browse the entire archive with option to download high resolution images (directly from the secure LOC server). All images on this site are free and open source.

This site is where you go to find and download open source video & audio files directly from the Library of Congress. Find famous speeches, not so famous speeches, video’s and moving images from 1903 to present. Almost anything imaginable!

Every teacher has the option to create and publish a website, normally using Rapid Weaver. But sometimes the options are limited. Want to add more for free? Visit this site and check out the library of ‘Snippets’ and additional ‘Themes’. If you have a question about how to use something, stop on by!
